Ah To Be 15 Again…No Thanks

My son is having girl trouble and his heart is breaking tonight. I feel so bad for him; I remember the fickle feelings at 15 years old. It’s hard for him because everybody “loves” him but they all just want to be “friends” and jerk him around. It’s so hard to just sit back and watch. I never know what to say and I don’t want to say the wrong thing.

He means everything to me and I don’t want something like this – something I know is foolish and petty – to ruin things for him. Being a teenager sucks sometimes.

Halfway Through

I can’t believe the month of November is half over already! It scares me – makes me feel kinda sick. Christmas is barreling down on us and we have so little money to spend on the kids. I feel terrible. They are such great kids and I know they will be happy whatever they get but I feel guilty. In years past when the money has been much better we have spoiled them and that has set a precedent, probably more so for me than for them.

Gotta figure this out somehow.

So Tired

I am wiped out tonight. I chaperoned my 6th grade daughters trip today to an organization that assembles toy baskets for needy children for Christmas. I love that their teacher is really engraining the idea of servuce into them. It’s so important.

Where Do The Weekends Go?

The weekend flew by even with the extra day the kids had off from school!

On Friday I took my girls shopping so we could get my oldest a new pair of winter boots. The bonus being the oldest – she always gets the new stuff.

She’s on a fur kick this winter. Earlier this month she picked out this coat:

She’s at that age (11) where she is very sure what she wants and only likes what I suggest if I make her think it was her idea. LOL

To top the weekend off my honey finally ended his 6 year hunting dry spell and shot this tonight right before dusk:

I’m so happy for him because I know it meant so much.

I’m chaperoning Olivia’s class trip for the day tomorrow. Maybe Tuesday I can do something about this pig sty of a house.

In Honor of All Those Who Have Served

I come from a family with a long history serving in the Armed Forces. I think of my grandfather serving in WWII, my uncle serving in Vietnam, my sister-in-law serving in Desert Storm. I think of all they sacrificed for their country and their beliefs. They each survived their respective wars but not without scars – mostly on the inside.

To those that have served this country so that we my remain free I say….Thank you.

Extreme Couponer Wannabee

I had to take my two youngest daughters to the doctors this morning for their immunizations and then my plan was to finish my coupon cutting, entry and filing before finalizing my list and heading out to the store. They left us waiting a long time in the medical office and it was much later than I expected by the time I got home.

I finally got out to the store, list in one hand, coupons in the other. Miraculously I found everything I wanted and rang out pretty quickly. Final results – I saved $62 and spent $68. Just under 50% savings. I wish it was the 98% I see on TLC on Wednesday evenings but its a good start.
